Papaya Thwarts Cancer
The papaya is sweet, succulent and when served ripe has custard like taste. That the papaya thwarts cancer cells in the lab makes this an even sweeter choice. Papaya contains anti-oxidant nutrients like beta-carotene, vitamin A and C, flavonoids, folate, B vitamins and pantothenic acid. It also contains small amount of minerals like calcium, chlorine, iron phosphorus, potassium, silicon and sodium.
Papaya Cancer Protection
The Papaya provides a blast of luscious sweetness while delivering powerful immune boosting nutrients. Papaya fights cancer because it has the powerful combination of lycopene, and carotenoids. It has shown promise against hormone related cancers as well as other types. In the case of breast cancer cells research shows it can stop the growth and metastasis process.
The nutrients in papaya have been shown to help prevent colon cancer. Papaya’s fiber is able to bind with cancer-causing toxins in the colon and keep them away from the healthy colon cells. Papaya’s folate, vitamin C, beta-carotene, and vitamin E have each been associated with a reduced risk of colon cancer. These nutrients provide synergistic protection for colon cells from free radical damage to their DNA.
Papaya may reduce a man’s risk of developing prostate cancer. This comes from research published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Men who frequently consumed lycopene-rich fruits and vegetables such as tomatoes, apricots, pink grapefruit, watermelon , papaya, and guava were 82% less likely to have prostate cancer than those who consumed the least of these fruits. Drinking green tea while on a diet high in lycopene-rich fruits offered stronger protection. There seems to be a synergistic effect that offers substantial protection.
Papaya and Cancer Research
Scientists at the University of Illinois think this anti-oxidant activity contributes to its effectiveness as a cancer fighting agent. The University of Florida researcher Nam Dang, M.D., Ph.D and colleagues in Japan have documented papaya’s dramatic anticancer effect against a broad range of lab-grown tumors. These include cancers of the cervix, breast, liver, lung and pancreas. Researchers in Japan found the mechanisms of action in a type of isothiocyanate found in papaya known as BITC (Benzyl isothiocyanate} that underlies the relationship between cell cycle regulation and appropriate cell demise.
Adding papayas to your diet is a powerful way to ensure you are getting a nutrient-dense fruit that is a rich source of cancer fighting nutrients. The key to health is to get nutriton in and cellular toxins out. It is common sense that what works to protect against cancer are whole foods with a broad-spectrum of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.
Nutrition in Pregnancy-Sowing the Seeds
Nutrition in pregnancy-sowing the seeds that will produce a strong offspring. It is the time to eat smart. Pregnancy may look like the off-season when it comes to diet. The time a fetus spends in the womb leaves an indelible mark on future health. It is the starting line for future endurance, vitality, and immune function.
Poor Diet Risks
It now has been shown that a poor diet during pregnancy increases the risk of many age related conditions. In other words offsprings pay later for what a mother doesn’t do during gestation. Diet during the critical period of development in the womb shapes the health of the fetus by influencing how the cells in the body age.
It is an established fact that environmental factors interact with genes, affecting how they express themselves. The mother’s diet is an environmental factor that affects and modifies the DNA that regulate how a gene is produced.
Dedicating your life to child rearing begins in pregnancy. The whole story of your child’s development begins in utero. The research, by scientist from the University of Cambridge shows an increased risk of type 2 diabetes to children born to mothers who consumed an unhealthy diet during pregnancy.
“What is most exciting about these findings is that we are now starting to really understand how nutrition during the first nine months of life spent in the womb shape our long term health by influencing how the cells in our body age,” stated Dr Susan Ozanne, the senior author on the paper and British Heart Foundation Senior Fellow from the Institute of Metabolic Science at the University of Cambridge
Child Support Begins in the Womb
Successful child rearing means sustainable good health into adulthood. There isn’t another go-around that will represent the time spend in the womb. The overall health of ones offspring starts with conception. You need to support your child before he or she arrives. The adage mother knows best must start at conception.
This is the time to upgrade your diet. Avoiding the chemicals in a diet made up of carbonated drinks, processed foods and drinks, and even manufactured vitamins is important. What is called safe food additives and colors are indicated in neurodegenerative diseases, accelerated aging, and hyperactivity in children.
Sodium benzoate can damage, and shut down parts on DNA in a cell’s mitochondria. Sodium benzoate is in sodas, lemonade mixes, salad dressing, condiments, and pickles. along with other additives. The consumption of artificial food colors and preservatives can’t be good for the life blossoming inside of you.
When you realize that sodium benzoate is used as an anti-corrosive, automotive engine antifreeze coolant, plastic, and in photographic processing it takes on a new dimension. What belongs in the cleaning industry doesn’t belong in the womb
Food is The Future
When you eat for two it is a multigenerational endeavor. Ancient Wisdom still stands whole food is what makes a healthy baby materialize. Maternal instinct isn’t enough anymore, knowledge is power. All formulas and food are for two now. The health of your unborn child takes precedence over everything else. Pregnancy is a time to invest in your child’s future, by consuming a diet full of fruits, vegetables, and good quality protein.
Pomegranate Protection
Pomegranate protection means that your diet matters. The power of pomegranate is in what it does, preventing or reversing atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. Human and animal studies show that pomegranate juice reduces oxidative stress, low-density lipoproterin (LDL) aggregation and oxidation, and reduces the platelet clumping that is associated with arteriosclerosis. By slowing the clumping it stops clots from forming, it works like aspirin, without the side effects. It also lowers the systolic blood pressure reading.
Pomegranate Power
Part of the power of pomegranate juice is its antioxidant properties. The antioxidant level is 3X more than found in green tea, red wine, blueberries, cranberries and oranges. Antioxidants help guard the body against premature aging, heart disease, alzheimer’s, and cancer. Pomegranate is good for inflammatory conditions. It is used in other parts of the world to keep the look of youth with clear and glowing skin. Pomegranate also supplies you with vitamin C, fiber, and Potassium.
Pomegranate juice seems to destroy cancer cells, while protecting healthy cells. It seems to work on breast cancer cells, and prostrate cancer. There is research that shows consumption of pomegranate juice may protect the neonatal brain from damage due to injury. It improves the amount of oxygen to the heart muscle of people suffering from coronary heart disease. Research has found that eight ounces daily of pomegranate juice improved the amount of oxygen getting to the heart muscle of patients with coronary heart disease (American Journal of the college of Cardiology, (Sept. 2005). There is some research that long-term consumption of pomegranate juice may help combat erectile dysfunction (Journal of Urology, July 2005). This should not be a surprise because erectile dysfunction is often due to atherosclerosis, and/or blood pressure medication
Research
Research shows that there is a possibility that pomegranate compounds might prevent prostrate cancer or slow its growth. The same holds true for breast cancer, it causes breast cancer cells to self-destruct. Scientists have found inflammation is reduced, and this may help in arthritis. Now we really do not need more studies, what we need is more people using these super foods.
The unique properties are; antioxidant polyphenols, ascorbic, citric, fumaic, and malic acids, essential amino acids, vitamins B and C. One pomegranate has about 40 percent of the recommended daily vitamin C. It also has some vitamin A and E. The power of pomegranate comes from the power of nature. All the laboratories in the world are not going to come up with more beneficial forms of the substances found in fruits and vegetables.
