Cancer Is Not From Genes

Cancer is not from genes may be good news, depending on how much responsibility you want to take. The BRAC1 and BRAC2 mutations are an alarm that tells you there is danger. However, having a high-risk mutation surely doesn’t mean you will develop any type of cancer from the abnormality.

There are variables such as the influence of your lifestyle on the other genes that work together with this mutation. Variations of the BRCA!, BRAC2, CDH1, PTEN, STK11, and TP53 genes increase the risk of developing breast cancer. Also the AR, ATM, BARD1, BRIP1, CHEK2, DIRA53, ERBB2, NBN, PALB2,, RAD50 and RAD51 genes are associated with breast cancer.

As far as real research into the role of lifestyle and diet on the two most feared gene mutations BRAC1 and BRAC2 you will not find it. It hasn’t been done. Since the triggers for any cancer is a sum total of everything which either activates and stimulates the ability for cancer to develop and spread.

As of yet, there has been no research on the role of diet and lifestyle on these two genes. The triggers for cancer are the sum total of a cascade of events that stimulate the initiation of this condition. Alcohol, sugar, lack of exercise, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, stress, environmental toxins are all things that contribute to both the formation of tumors, and the spread of cancer.

Let’s take alcohol which has a known link to the development of cancer. There are parts of alcohol which converts to a metabolite know as accetaldehyde. This is a molecule which causes cancer through different means. One way it does it is to bind to the DNA causing mutations which can initiate cancer.  Also, it produces reactive oxygen species (ROS), which leads to an inflammatory response which can promotes cancer formation.

When we talk about cancer without talking about antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, gluthathione, exercise, sunlight, barley grass juice, silymarin (milk thistle), chlorophlin, grape seed extract, resveraterol, calorie restriction with optimal nutrition and a comprehensive nutritional regimen along with stress reduction we on the wrong path.

It is critical that there is universal recognition on what supports healthy cell function. Without this understanding our response will be to remove and destroy anything which seems to be a threat of our health. Getting healthy is the answer to cancer, until science recognizes the synergistic action of a healthy lifestyle they will continue to cut, burn and poison patients as a way to bring about health.

BRAC1 and BRAC2 and Risk

BRAC1 and BRAC 2 need a closer look. There just isn’t enough information in the public domain.  The sheer panic without the research is based on a limited view.

BRAC1 and BRAC2

First of all of us have these genes, and they perform a vary important function. What they do is repair cell damage. Both of these genes are tumor suppressors. They make repairs to breaks to the DNA molecules that have double stranded breaks.

Women with mutations to either the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes have a higher risk of breast cancer anywhere from 3 to 5 percent. There are other opinions that put it at 5 to 10 percent. These mutations are passed down though generations. These women have a risk of ovarian cancer that is ten to thirty times the norm.  Also, women with abnormal BRCA1 or BRAC2 gene have a higher risk of developing ovarian, colon, pancreatic and thyroid cancers, as well as melanoma.

These mutations can be inherited from either parent. Sons are also at risk. The child of a genetic carrier has a 50% chance of inheriting the mutated gene. Men also have the risk of developing breast, colon, pancreatic, and prostate cancer.

Prospective

Having an abnormal BRAC1 or BRAC2 gene doesn’t mean you will get breast or any other cancer. The interesting fact that seems to be overlooked is that ovarian cancer carriers a bigger risk. However, since more women get breast cancer the emphasis is placed here.

The estimates are hundreds of thousands of cancer free women worldwide are probably harboring these mutated genes. In the eary 1990′s these genes were first identified. Then the witch hunt began. We are in the beginning phase of understanding what we are dealing with. Even oncologist aren’t sure everyone should be tested.

Most people aren’t aware of what genes they have. There are people that can’t trace a few generations back, and others who have relatives who went from other illness before breast or any other type of cancer could manifest. The other fact is a women may develop cancer, but it came about because of other factors, not the mutated BRAC1 and BRAC2 gene.

Facts

BRAC1 and BRAC2 has brought with it a new level of fear. One that it may not deserve. This fact is so important that I will cover this in the next few articles. The reason is no research has gone into the role of diet and lifestyle. The triggers for any cancer are the sum total of a cascade of events.

There are some very interesting facts coming in the follow up article.

Pain Relief

Pain relief and pain management are different. Finding the right combinations of complementary treatments is far superior to the medical route.  As far as the medical way most people have been there and done that.

Free To Choose

Real pain relief requires having a new perspective. I know it is easier said than done. There is virtually no instantaneous relief when treating the cause and not the symptom. There are a broad range of modalities, which can help heal the body. This puts in motion a permanent solution. With a holistic view you become a partner in the solution. This presents the best opportunity to maximize the results.

The Steps

Separating the steps for both efficiency and safety should be a dual goal. The ultimate destination should be a reduction in pain, until it becomes non-existent. The only barrier to achieving this would be a lack of motivation.

To break the dependence on pharmaceutical dependency, and dramatically see results: use some new tools. There are many sources of pain. The real problem is when the pain becomes chronic. Once pain lingers for awhile the chance of it becoming a regular occurrence increases.

The first step is to realize that the body can get use to caring pain signals, even if the cause  of pain is gone. Inflammation plays a major role and not only causes pain, but helps the body hold on to the signal.

The first step is diet related, a diet that is high in refined processed food loaded with sugar is the reason inflammation takes hold and persists. This means that food choices, supplements, phytonutrients, and herbs play a role in relieving inflammation. This is turn relieves pain. The appeal of this is it helps with core issues.

The other modalities, acupuncture, naturopathic remedies, reflexology, and upper cervical chiropractic care. The one that gets to the core of the problem is upper cervical chiropractic care, it is basically going to balance your nervous system.

Pain Amplification Syndrome

Pain amplification syndrome is when the nervous system gets use to carrying pain signals and does so when the cause of the pain is gone. Pain signals can become embedded in the spinal core, as a memory. Different traumas turn on the pain signal, and mobilizes our internal resources. When the trauma is resolved the alarm goes off and than the pain dissipates. Sometimes the alarm stays on and a loop is created between the nervous system and the brain. The nerves keep firing and sending electrochemical signals to the brain, and they are interpreted as pain.

This syndrome has significantly increased over the last 10 years. The numbers of adults with  pain amplifications syndrome have become the third-largest patient group in specialized rheumatology clinics.

Pharmaceuticals

Painkillers have become one of the most overused pharmaceutical. The maintenance dose doesn’t always offer relief, and regular increases in dosage isn’t the answer. This type intervention offers few benefits on a long term basis. Some of the side-effects are stomach bleeding, kidney damage and nutritional deficiencies.

Natural Treatments

I am a fan of natural interventions, because I have seen them work.  There is a different function of natural interventions, which has been lost on modern medicine. The fundamental difference is the way they meet the challenge. The best practice is to eliminate the cause, and do this by understanding the underlying cause, other wise you are swimming “upstream” with the current against you.
