Horseradish for Health

Horseradish for Health

A post by Blanche Scharf http://www.yourhealthupdates.com

I have been studying natural healing modalities for the last 25 years. In that time I have had the privilege of working with some of the greatest minds in Natural Healing including Naturopaths, Scientists, and Energy Healers. I have seen people miraculously heal from all kinds of dis-ease thru non-invasive methods. Personally, I have experienced all kinds of diets from Macrobiotics to Raw Foods. Now is a very important time to start sharing this health information with as many people as possible, so people can make well informed decisions about their health and not fall victim to a sickcare system based on profit, rather than one of supporting wholeness, compassion and love

The role of horseradish in the American diet is small. It is used as a condiment or sauce by some. Because of its strong taste it used on an infrequent basis. However,  it is a wonderful addition to any meal, and can keep you well. Horseradish contains significant amounts of cancer-fighting compounds called glucosinolates, which helps the liver to detoxify carcinogens. It also may suppress the growth of tumors. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage contain some of the same glucosinolates; horseradish has up to 10 times more than broccoli.

Glucosinolates is what provides the hot taste of horseradish. Because glucosinolates increase the liver’s ability to detoxify, it may suppress the growth of existing tumors. This is why using horseradish for health, is smart. Horseradish has antibiotic properties and also increases blood flow to the infected area, and removes wastes. Horseradish can help with urinary tract infections, and kill bacteria that can cause bronchitis. It has been known to clear up sinus infections. That one is easy to figure out; one taste will tell you why.

It helps with water retention, it stimulates urine production. At the same time the glycoside stimulates the capillaries. It is also a good expectorant agent.  By stimulating the immune system it is good to use during the cold and flu season. Horseradish is from the Brassica family of plants, which have glucosinolates a known cancer fighter.

Some studies have shown this plant to protect us from the effects of toxic chemicals in our environment. Preventing disease is eating for optimal health. The ultimate defense against chronic health problems is plant food. Natural plant food remedies deliver without apparent dangers. Horseradish works on a biochemical level, and is equivalent in value to many of the cruciferous vegetables.

Using horseradish for health is not only prudent, but wise. If fact this vegetable is good from a jar, processing increases its anticancer properties. Of course look for one without a whole list of additives.
