Obesity is Redefining Our Lives
New research shows that obesity is redefining our lives. Fat cells are being found to be extraordinarily dynamic and complex. They are influential and affect an array of important body functions.
Fat cells are sending out potent chemical signals to the brain, liver, muscles, reproductive organs, and immune system. Scientists have discovered 20 new hormones and other previously unknown substances secreted by human fat cells. When you have either enlarged fat cells or too many fat cells, because you gained weight the danger is that the excessive amounts of these substances begin to damage blood vessels and impair function.
Fat is associated with gut fat or enlarged abdomens. When a pound of fat forms in the body it means that a mile of new blood vessels will form. This is called angiogenesis. Also, fat has an infinite capacity to make more of it.
Crossing over from an annoyance to a disaster, fat fits into the category of powerful health disruptors.
“In the old days, people used to think fat tissue was a passive organ,” said Rexford S. Ahima, an endocrinologist at the University of Pennsylvania. “Now it’s obvious that it makes and secretes more hormones and problems than probably any other organ. It’s at the center of a very complex system. It coordinates how much we eat, how much energy we burn, how the immune system works, how we reproduce.”
Fat stores pesticides, preservatives, MSG, artificial colors and flavorings, and artificial sweeteners which all can cause weight gain.
Fat plays a leadership role in the cost of health care, and our physical wellbeing. Our national growth may very well depend on the size of our citizens. There doesn’t appear to be a simple solution. Government can’t mandate weigh loss. However, obesity may dramatically redefine our lives individually.
Theoretically we are embracing being fit, specifically we are into expansion. The evolution of a fat nation is market driven. The paradigm shift is what our economy now depends on. Food manufactures are well into the game and tagging along are the pharmaceutical companies.
Our economy is boosted by the revenue generating from these two giants. Obesity is a fair-trade item; being exported around the world.
Walking Away From Diabetes
Walking away from diabetes is something that anyone can do. You can decrease your chances of developing type 2 diabetes, and reverse its course. By taking the appropriate steps as in walking, you reduce your chances of developing Type 2 diabetes by 50%.
Exercise is physical gold. It is the key force in managing the fundamentals of health. By performing Physical activity you lessen the chance of becoming disabled from all causes.
Activity
The factors to consider are two fold. One, activity normalizes glucose levels, and two, it energizes. Calories are said to be used for energy. If that were true the more you eat the greater amount of energy you should have. Remember how energetic you felt after a Thanksgiving dinner. This will tell you the fleeting and unreliability of scientific sounding insights.
Highly nutritious foods that fuel your body are usable for cellular energy. The other source of energy comes from activity. This vitalizes your lymph, and cardiovascular system.
Getting Started
Leisurely activity is a way to get started. Actually the best way to look at it is that not doing anything is risky. It is tough to start when you are sitting on the fence for so long. The thing to remember is that you are in control of meeting the challenge. Not exercising your option is at your own risk.
The total amount of activity is more important than the intensity in lowering blood pressure in children. This was reported by United Kingdom researchers in the Hypertension: Journal of the American Heart Association.
Activity that works for blood pressures means it works for all the systems. The frequency of activity is important. More urgent is getting your foot in the water. Likewise, while exercise is important, many people don’t place enough value on activities from performing everyday tasks like lifting and chasing children, lugging groceries and cleaning house. Anything beats sitting around without moving around.

Large Stomachs are tied to Dementia
Large stomachs are tied to dementia, and that equals less brain power. Big stomach smaller brain is not what I would call a good trade. People in their 40’s who have large stomachs are more likely to have dementia by the time they reach their 70s. There was a study done with 6,583 people aged 40 to 45 in northern California. They took the abdominal fat measurements of all the participants. They found that the people with the most abdominal fat were three times more likely to have dementia than those with the lowest amount.
Since, we have an army of people with too much abdominal fat, this nation will be losing its brain power. Having a large belly was a risk factor whether the people were normal weight, overweight, or obese. This happened irregardless of other health conditions such as diabetes, stroke or cardiovascular disease. The overweight crowd with a large belly was 2.3 times more likely to develop dementia than a normal weight individual.
We know that a large waist alone is a risk for metabolic syndrome. That means an increase in strokes, diabetes, and heart disease. Women are more likely to have abdominal fat. High abdominal fat in elderly adults was tied to brain atrophy. This research was published in the March 26, 2008 online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
This is a matter of big belly small brain. So now we have a new way of checking a future employee’s qualifications. With a slow job market this just narrowed the field. Belly fat releases hormones and chemicals that are harmful to the brain. From all indications fat in the abdomen area is the most harmful. Having an spare tire has been linked to diabetes, heart disease, and stoke. Now it could be linked to unemployment.
Belly fat is not just hard on the eyes it is harmful to all your organs. The risk of dementia increases as the belly enlarges. Fat thighs are now starting to look better. They do not pose the same risk. The easiest fat to lose is from the stomach area. In middle age is when you start to notice the weight in that area.
This beer belly has been implicated in making people hungrier, which in turn causes more weight gain. Dr.Yang and his colleagues at the University of Western Ontario Institute have found that abdominal fat tissue can make a hormone that stimulates fat cell production. The reason why fat lands in the spare tire is because that area has more cortisol receptors than other places.
Stress causes your body to release cortisol, and this hormone signals your liver to release excess sugar your body isn’t using. This release of sugar makes you feel hungry. The only way to deal with this issue is though weight management and some form of exercise. Walking and exercise lower stress levels, while trimming the fat. We know that large stomachs are tied to dementia, so its time to get moving.
