Calorie Counting-Going off the Deep End
Calorie counting is going off the deep end in American culture. Calorie counting is not benefiting the American public. Calorie content of food is not an indicator of the amount of weight you will gain. The amount of weight you gain will depend on your choice of food, and the amount. To many this may seem like calorie counting.
Calorie Counting Fails
Calorie counting is not functional when you consider the deeper meaning of food. That is because our concept of calorie counting in not rooted in nature. Calorie counting has become popular with consumers because of how food is sourced.
The aesthetics of the packaged food is more of a problem than calories. What is in the packaged food is responsible for mitochondrial decay and aging, cellular degeneration, cardiovascular disease, and the obesity epidemic. The calories provided are a mute issue.
Plenty of people who counted calories wind up with a gastric bypass. It isn’t because they couldn’t count it is precisely because they could count. They most likely were told to count the calories. Most people are looking at the wrong numbers. When they consume food they are looking at calories and not necessarily nutrients. When your body has adequate nutrients it stops feeling starved and the craving subside.
Nutrients Count
According to Bruce Ames who developed the Triage Theory of Aging, obese people are hungry all the time because the body is craving missing nutrients such as magnesium. Dr..Ames is emeritus professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of California, Berkeley. In the Life Extension Magazine dated August 2011 he states that Americans are filling up with junk and are wildly deficient in vitamins and minerals. No where in the article does he blame obesity on too many calories.
People who opt for gastric bypass have bypassed the laws of nature. They weren’t getting enough nutrients to support their body. These surgical interventions for obesity are not reserved for only morbid obesity, they are now being approved for people who are overweight and tried everything else.
Macronutrients
To run your metabolism you need the basic macronutrients and these come from fats and carbohydrates. Every metabolic pathway requires micronutrients to supply the calories. Low fat, no fat and no calorie sodas are not the solution but the problem. We are a society obsessed with the calorie count of every morsel of food we put into our mouths.
Metabolic function depends on how we prioritize what we consume. If calorie counting is on top of the list we will suffer an alarming rate of both obesity and chronic health problems. So far that looks like the course of action America has taken to fight the rising rate of obesity. Calorie counting is more that a phrase or faze we are going through, it is what is blatantly touted as a cure for the obesity epidemic.
Weight Loss Magic-Part 2
Weight loss magic shows you that weight loss isn’t just about pounds. Getting healthier is possible only if you can maintain an ideal weight for your body type. Impressive clinical studies show that a common foundation for building health is reaching your optimal weight.
The leading addiction in this country is food. The food that Americans are addicted to causes overeating among other things. Americans so far have the highest obesity rates in the world. With about twenty percent of the population diagnosed as clinically obese we have a huge problem. There are ten million overweight and obese children in this country.
What Is Happening?
Well for one let us go back to synthetic food. Veteran authors and health experts Mannie Barling and Ashley F. Brooks have released it’s Not Your Fault, Weight Gain, Obesity and Food Addiction. Shedding light on food craving, overeating and food addition they show the powerful and pivotal role of a chemically enhanced food supply.
This is about the quality and quantity of our food supply. So weight management is only achievable if you choose to change to lifestyle management. The foods that line the supper market shelves and are in the freezer are our #1 public enemy.
Willpower is Not the Answer
Willpower isn’t the answer for many reasons.
For many people obesity is a sign of a nutritional deficiency. A healthy body finds its ideal weight. Overeating is not due to an absence of willpower. It is in large part due to the extreme stimulation of taste buds. The deck is stacked against you the minute you hit the grocery store.
You are eating more calories than you need on a daily basis. The risks from excess caloric intake jeopardize your health. The modern scourge of over consumption is a risk factor in virtually all age-related diseases. Most people can’t seem to commit to a sufficiently restrictive dietary regimen to obtain long lasting weight control. The reason being is hunger overtakes any desire to curtail the amount of food on any given day. The trick is to cut calories and not feel hungry.
There is only one Diet
Eating your way to optimal weight is weight loss magic. There are some basics that help you achieve both your perfect weight, while improving your health.
Eat Foods with a low glycemic index. Gylcemic index is a measure of how fast a given food item increases the blood sugar level. Foods with a high glycemic index cause a sudden rise and fall of blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar levels trigger the need to eat more food; it creates a sense of immediate hunger.
Foods with a low glycemic index cause slow and consistent levels of energy for a prolonged period of time. This results in appetite control. Refined carbohydrates and foods with high sugar interfere with the hormone messages that signal you had enough to eat.
The insulin spike interferes with leptin; the hormone secreted by fat cells that let the body knows it can stop eating. This is not an emotional issue it is a purely physical mechanism. Sugar is an addictive substance, and that means refined carbohydrates fall into the same category, they turn to sugar.
The Answer is Coming and It Isn’t What You Think
Weight Loss Magic
Weight loss magic is really just essential knowledge which can guide you to become a thinner you.
The focus must be on health for good reasons. This is the only way you can break the barrier to weight loss. Almost, everything you read on weight loss is all nonsense. If what they taught was true you would have a nation of successful dieters.
Let’s explore the old school thinking. All you need is self control. This should make serial dieters go ballistic. Cutting calories is the toughest thing to do for an extended period of time. Most people don’t have the essential knowledge to do it the right way. Cutting calories “isn’t worth a row of beans,” unless you know the tricks.
Calories
There are all kinds of human studies that measure the effects of calories. Most diets are based on this. What it doesn’t take into account is that our food supply has changed enormously. We now consume sugar substitutes, high fructose corn syrup, artificial coloring, and low cost fillers. There is a lot of evidence that most processed food is an appetite stimulant.
Almost all of the mainstream diets allow some of these products into their diet plans. When you rely on calorie consumption vs. calorie expenditure hands down you will lose, but it won’t be in pounds. It doesn’t work. Calorie restriction alone sets you up for the yo-yo diet syndrome. Researchers have found that (MSG) produces a massive 40 percent larger appetite when given to rats. The scientists think the additive affects an area of the brain by preventing proper functioning of the body’s appetite control mechanism. People who consume foods with large quantities of MSG feel hungrier after eating.
MSG is used as a flavor enhancer in much of our pre-packaged foods. It is found in many soups, salad dressings, sausages, hot dogs, canned tuna, and frozen entrees etc. MSG found in ingredients such as Hydroized Vegetable and Autolyzed Yeast Extract. This is one of the reasons cutting calories alone as an attempt to lose weight will fail.
Synthetic Food
With the rising production of food that has a shelf life into the next decade, we are drowning in synthetic food. The truth is that these products set up craving by fooling with the production of insulin.
We are eating sugar, sodium, and starch polluted meals and snacks. We are eating oversized meals, because the shut off button has been shut off. The bizarre world of food is getting wilder. What that means is it isn’t calories in and calories out. The foods set us up to store fat. The manufacturers think the American public is invincible, and that this deadly experiment is going to be the planet’s salvation. More processed food will not ensure the planets population is going to be healthy. Two-thirds of adults are overweight. Turning weight loss resolutions into reality takes more than will power.
