Weight Loss Magic-Part 2

Weight loss magic shows you that weight loss isn’t just about pounds. Getting healthier is possible only if you can maintain an ideal weight for your body type. Impressive clinical studies show that a common foundation for building health is reaching your optimal weight.

The leading addiction in this country is food. The food that Americans are addicted to causes overeating among other things. Americans so far have the highest obesity rates in the world. With about twenty percent of the population diagnosed as clinically obese we have a huge problem. There are ten million overweight and obese children in this country.

What Is Happening?

Well for one let us go back to synthetic food. Veteran authors and health experts Mannie Barling and Ashley F. Brooks have released it’s Not Your Fault, Weight Gain, Obesity and Food Addiction. Shedding light on food craving, overeating and food addition they show the powerful and pivotal role of a chemically enhanced food supply.

This is about the quality and quantity of our food supply. So weight management is only achievable if you choose to change to lifestyle management. The foods that line the supper market shelves and are in the freezer are our #1 public enemy.

Willpower is Not the Answer

Willpower isn’t the answer for many reasons.

For many people obesity is a sign of a nutritional deficiency. A healthy body finds its ideal weight. Overeating is not due to an absence of willpower. It is in large part due to the extreme stimulation of taste buds. The deck is stacked against you the minute you hit the grocery store.

You are eating more calories than you need on a daily basis. The risks from excess caloric intake jeopardize your health. The modern scourge of over consumption is a risk factor in virtually all age-related diseases. Most people can’t seem to commit to a sufficiently restrictive dietary regimen to obtain long lasting weight control. The reason being is hunger overtakes any desire to curtail the amount of food on any given day. The trick is to cut calories and not feel hungry.

There is only one Diet

Eating your way to optimal weight is weight loss magic. There are some basics that help you achieve both your perfect weight, while improving your health.

Eat Foods with a low glycemic index. Gylcemic index is a measure of how fast a given food item increases the blood sugar level. Foods with a high glycemic index cause a sudden rise and fall of blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar levels trigger the need to eat more food; it creates a sense of immediate hunger.

Foods with a low glycemic index cause slow and consistent levels of energy for a prolonged period of time. This results in appetite control. Refined carbohydrates and foods with high sugar interfere with the hormone messages that signal you had enough to eat.

The insulin spike interferes with leptin; the hormone secreted by fat cells that let the body knows it can stop eating. This is not an emotional issue it is a purely physical mechanism. Sugar is an addictive substance, and that means refined carbohydrates fall into the same category, they turn to sugar.

The Answer is Coming and It Isn’t What You Think

Addiction is the New Eating Disorder

Addiction is the new eating disorder of the 21st century.

Eating Disorders

The list of eating disorders is reduced to either starving yourself, or stuffing yourself and purging. What if there are reasons to call our obsession with and binging on junk food one of the most dangerous trends. The shocking part it is a growing movement, making its way to the most vulnerable victims our children.

U.S. researchers working with rats have shown for the first time the compulsion to overeat has the same biological mechanism as the addiction to drugs such as cocaine and heroin. It affects the brain’s pleasure circuitry in a similar way.

The study was conducted by Scripps Research Associate Professor Paul J Kenny and graduate student Paul M Johnson. The Scripps Research Institute is in Jupiter, Florida. It was published in the online issue of Nature Neuroscience.

Addiction

According to a statement from the Scripps Research Institute the study confirms what many obesity patients have been saying for years binging on junk food is just about impossible to control.

Kenny and Johnson show that as pleasure centers in the brain become less responsive, rats quickly develop compulsive overeating habits. This is the same progressively deteriorating chemical balance in reward brain circuits seen in rats that over consume cocaine or heroin.

Kenny said the study confirms that junk food can become “addictive.” One of the tests of addictive behavior is to train lab animals to anticipate an electric shock. At first the animals receive the mild shocks at the same time as light coming on, eventually they learn to anticipate the shock when they see the light and avoid doing the thing that triggers the shock.

In rats that become “addicted’ to junk food ignored the light and continued to binge. The junk food consisted of what people eat: cheesecake, bacon, sausage, and Ding-Dongs a chocolate like cake.

Junk Food Wins

Junk food wins even with rats. Lab rats were divided into three groups. The first group got a balanced healthy diet, the second group had access to high-calorie “junk” food for one hour a day, and the third group was fed healthy food, but had unlimited access to the high-calorie “junk food.”

The third group quickly showed a preference for the junk food, eating it all day long and becoming obese.

“They always went for the worst type of food,” Kenny said. “As a result, they took in twice the calories as the control rats,” when they removed the junk food and left the healthy diet, they refused to eat.

“ The change in the diet preference was so great that they basically starved themselves for two weeks after they were cut off from junk food,” said Kenny.

Conclusion

It doesn’t take a genius to know what group we belong to. We are in the third group minus the healthy food. What will it do to us, just look around. The next eclipse will be because we block the view.

Understanding this should make us realize we are being left without the power, or ability to withstand the temptations.

Weight America’s Big Problem

Weight is America’s big problem, and is a cause for concern. It is in part responsible for our health care crises.

OBESITY IS PROFITABLE

Obesity is profitable for the food manufacturing industries, diet programs, and pharmaceutical industry, which are fueling the greatest health catastrophe in human history. The pharmaceutical companies are looking for a diet pill that is effective. Safety is another issue, because you are usually one side effect away from disaster.

FOOD MANUFACTURERS

The food manufacturers rely on the chemical compounds from pharmaceutical companies that enhance taste, shelve life, and eye appeal. Most of these additives make hunger a constant companion to anyone consuming the processed foods in enough quantity. The expanding waistlines are bound to help everyone except the owners of the larger belt size. Larger Americans eat more, so they feed the processed food industry. If they do try to cut the calories they usually wind up feeding the diet industry. When nothing helps which is not usual, they now turn to pharmaceutical or medical solutions.

DIET INDUSTRY

Weight is Americas big problem, and is really no one else’s problem than the person who is overweight. It isn’t the food industries; they keep cranking out their so called “food.” The diet industry can not complain, because without you they will not make a profit. The pharmaceutical companies can keep looking for the golden goose, which would temporarily solve the obesity epidemic. Clearly the safety and well being of the end user is second fiddle to profit.

FOOD ADDICTION

Food addiction is real and one of the most overlooked eating disorders. While the drug firms look for a magic pill that would make their profits soar, the weight-loss gurus continue to preach the same line, all it takes is diet and discipline. Let all these companies surround you with addicting food choices, and then it is your job to conquer the strong cravings. The food that is processed is addictive, it sets up chemical and hormonal imbalances. It is like they are saying just eat one chip and then control yourself.

Anyone who eats a plate of vegetables knows that they are done after that had enough. How many people can not stop eating broccoli that has no flavoring? This is true of protein that has not been doctored to taste like a high sodium or sugar food. The best chance of loosing weight is not the usual way that’s touted. The way that people are told to loose weight helps weight loss companies.

ANSWER

The assumption is that small portions of the same type garbage food is the answer. If that was true there would not be so many fatties walking around. There is a way, but it is not going to get a lot of attention. It will turn out to be not financially profitable to big industry. It is also a challenge for the consumer surrounded by all the chemically tasty products. What it means is taking back your power and consuming more natural foods.

You have to break an addiction that almost everyone will tell does not exist. With all the proof at ever buffet line, fast food restaurant, and processed food products lining the stores shelves you would think someone would catch on. The diet industry for the most part hasn’t a clue, or we would have a nation of healthy fit individuals.
