Pharmacies Out Perform Green Groceries
It is no surprise that pharmacies out perform green groceries. What is news to most people is that green groceries will do more for your health.
Pharmacy Advantage
The pharmacy advantage comes from the supporting cast. They are many from the diagnostic labs, doctors training, to the media ads, and now the new sweeping health care bill.
While the nation can breathe a sigh of relief that the healthcare debate may be over, the new laws would make pharmacies a beneficiary of this legislation.
With an expansion of coverage there will be more prescriptions written. Not one of them will be for the green groceries that are the long term solution.
The new healthcare law is going to benefit healthcare companies. Hospitals will get a larger number of insured patients, and some will have prescription coverage.
There will be people who were uninsured before because of preexisting conditions. Once they are added to the roll of people who will need prescriptions filled business will be brisk. Pharmaceuticals are already one of the fastest growing segments of our economy.
Biotech
Biotech will be getting longer patent protection and new research-and-development tax credits. Developing new drugs will now become more profitable for the biotech companies.
The influx of new drugs will help the pharmacies, who will not have to sell other products to see a profit. That is why you will be seeing a drug store on every other corner. The large chain drug stores will be expanding their operations.
Green Groceries
Green groceries aren’t going to out perform pharmacies in terms of profit, but in terms of turning around someone’s health they may.
Maximum health will not be found in a pill, or any medication. It starts with the main ingredients in your diet. The green groceries are a healthy option, and the right way to regain and stay healthy.
The competitive edge belongs to the pharmacies, but the future hopefully belongs to the green groceries. If not, than we are all getting a raw deal no matter what type of health coverage we get.
Healthcare Reform;Don’t Hold Your Breath
If you are looking for real healthcare reform; don’t hold your breath. You may be doing that till the cows come home.
Health Is Not On The Agenda
Health is not on the agenda of healthcare reform. It is true health insurance may be easier to get. Yes, health insurance coverage will reach a larger segment of the population. More people will now have access to medical insurance.
If it sounds too good to be true, than it is too good to be true, there are serious problems lurking.
More coverage means more people exposed to the dark side of modern medicine.
The Reform You Need
Where is the reform that you need? At least 1.5 million Americas are sickened, injured or killed by errors in prescribing, dispensing, and taking medication. Preventable medical errors kill close to 98, 000 people in the United States each year.
Consumer Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports magazine, said lawmakers have failed to enact patient safety reforms recommended by a 1999 report by the Institute of Medicine or IOM that found that medical errors cost the United States $17 billion to $29 billion a year.
“That translates into a million lives and billions of dollars have been lost over the past 10 years because our healthcare system failed to adopt key reforms recommended by the IOM to protect patients.
There are another 200,000 Americans that succumb to both medical mistakes and hospital infections according to the Hearst Corporation.
Healthcare Reform
The new healthcare reform is addressing this issue. The economic stimulus bill signed by Congress in February included funds to promote healthcare technology, including electronic prescribing, which can help prevent medical errors from sloppy hand writing and harmful drug interactions.
Hocus Pocus, and now you have a healthy medical system. These are not even partial solutions. The harsh reality is no one is going to fess up to the real problem. The magnitude of the problem is so much larger than electronic prescribing, and sloppy hand writing. It is not only that the health information we have is blatantly false, we are being financially raped, by becoming victims of standardized care.
Diabetes-The Clue To Cancer
Diabetes- the clue to cancer is not as strange as it sounds.
Glucose Connection
The diabetes glucose connection is well known.
What is less known is that cancer cells grow so fast that they can become short of oxygen. They outstrip their blood supply; this is how oxygen is delivered. The cells then produce energy that needs less oxygen but more sugar.
Researches at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute have designed an experimental drug that chokes off that sugar supply, causing the cells to self destruct.
The agent, called OSU-CG12K is an example of a new class of anticancer drugs energy-restrictive mimetic agents. It is described in a paper published recently in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
“Our study proves that this new agent kills cancer cells through energy restriction. This is important because it shows that it is possible to design drugs that target energy restriction, and it is exciting because energy-restricting mimetic agents may also be useful for other diseases, including metabolic syndromes, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity,” chen said.
Energy-restricting mimetic agents cause changes in cancer cells that are similar to those that occur in can cells deprived of their main energy source, the sugar glucose.
Diabetes Sugar Connection
Most people are aware there is a diabetes sugar connection. Also, most are informed enough to know simple carbohydrates are going to cause problems.
What isn’t as well understood is that the same dietary solutions applied to cancer will have an effect.
Scientist at Umea University in Sweden funded by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF), examined blood sugar levels in 274,126 men and 275,818 women from Norway, Austria and Sweden with an average age of 44.8, than followed them for a decade.
They wrote: “Significant increases in risk among men were found for incident and fatal cancer of the liver, gallbladder, and respiratory tract, for incident thyroid cancer and multiple myeloma, and for fatal rectal cancer. In women, significant associations were found for incident and fatal cancer of the pancreas, for incident urinary bladder cancer, and for fatal cancer of the uterine corpus, cervix uteri and stomach.”
Glucose
Glucose is the common denominator for both diabetes and cancer. The alternative practitioners have been saying for years sugar feeds cancer. They were correct. Most of the medical community have been saying up to now, that diet has little to do with this condition.
Calorie restriction along with a nutrient dense diet is promoted by many alternative health care practitioners. Both a low sugar and lower calorie diet have been promoted as a preventative method and a way to reverse most conditions.
The benefits of a low sugar, and a low calorie diet when applied correctly will prevent and ameliorate these conditions. Your body will do the healing if given the tools.
