Cholesterol is not the Cause of Heart Disease

Cholesterol doesn’t cause heart disease, but it does bankroll an industry. The pharmaceutical industry isn’t giving it to you straight. The public knows what they report, they just don’t know the truth.

They make bold statements designed for the sole purpose of introducing their cholesterol lowering formula. They may create products that win market share, but do nothing to lower the incident of heart disease. They have produced conflicting reports to explain why the drugs lowers risks. There drugs aren’t effective for two reasons: one they target cholesterol, two the side effects are dangerous.

The basics of what cholesterol is and what it does. Cholesterol is multifunctional and protects us in many ways. Cholesterol establishes proper cell membrane permeability and fluidity. This is essential for determining which molecules can pass into the cell and which can not. Cholesterol plays a part in the production of sex hormones. These consists of androgen and estrogen. It is involved in the production of hormones released by the adrenal glands such as: cortisol, corticosterone, aldosterone, and some others.

Cholesterol is important dfor the manufacturing of bile acids, and converts sunshine to vitam D. It is important for the metabolism of fat soluble vitamins, such as vitamins A, D, D, and K. Cholesterol insulates nerve fibers.

We have been conditioned by an industry without a conscience to look at cholesterol as a toxic substance. Cholesterol is produced by the liver to help the body function. Cholesterol is carried by lipoproteins, which is molecule complex or compound containing both lipid (fat) and protein. The three main types are LDL |(low density lipoproteins). HDL (high density lipoprotein) and triglycerides.

The LDL carries cholesterol from the liver to the cells. If too much is carried to the cells to use, the LDL could build up. We on average have about 70% LDL floating around. The liver manufactures and secretes LDL. The liver also removes LDL from the blood by active LDL receptors on the cells surface.

HDL carries the cholesterol away from the cells back to the liver, where it is broken down of expelled as waste.

Triglycerides are the chemical forms in which most fat exists in the body as well as food. Triglycerides in plasma originates from fats in our food, or are created by carbohydrates. Calories we consume which aren’t used right away are converted into triglycerides and stored in fat cells. This is there for when your body needs energy and there insn’t any food around for this purpose, triglycerides will be released from the fat cells to be used as energy.

So far you can see how this relates to heart disease. The lethal effect of cholesterol comes from the minds of the bureaucratic health care system “experts.” The prime cause of heart disease is inflammation. Cholesterol is there to put out the fire. Blaming cholesterol for heart is like seeing firemen near every fire, and thinking where you see a fireman there will be a fire.

The investigation of cholesterol as a prime suspect in plaque build up led to the wrong conclusions. The test used to measure cholesterol are appealing because they are easy and cheap to give. There is a cloud hanging over the tests.

There are four types of LDL particles, one is a big fluffy form known as large LDL, and three increasingly dense forms know as medium, small and very small LDL particles.  A diet in saturated fat boosts the number of large LDL particles. Where as a diet of low -fat high carbohydrates boosts the smaller forms. The big, fluffy particles are mostly benign (not causing problems), while the smaller ones can become a problem.

The smaller ones are there to fills in the artery cracks and tears, which come from long term inflammation. One of the causes of inflammation is a high carbohydrate low fat diet. It is the smaller particles that will build up plaque while trying to heal the damaged tissue.

The cholesterol theory doesn’t make sense in this context. Where it makes cents is in a $14 billion dollar cholesterol lowering medication. Recently a panel of “experts” urged that every child between the ages of 8 and 11 be tested for high cholesterol. Cholesterol testing is based on poor science, and great marketing.

How to Stop Cognitive Decline

Bolstering heart health is how to combat brain aging and stop cognitive decline. The heart is a vital organ when it comes to cognitive function. We know the heart is important for physical performance, but it is also key to mental functions. The heart delivers both oxygen and nutrients to the body by its efficient pumping ability.

Cognitive Ability

Arrhythmia and electric instability of the heart which is a potentially dangerous abnormal heart rhythm effects physical and mental powers. It is of critical importance to recognize the factors than may cause memory problems.

It has been found that factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol may also be a reason for forgetting things. A study presented at the American Academy of Neurology 63th Annual Meeting shows that people with an elevated heart disease risk in middle age were more likely to have memory and cognitive problems.

Researches have found people who have a 10% higher risk of cardiovascular disease were likely to have lower cognitive function and a faster rate of cognitive decline, than those with the lowest risk of heart disease.

Patients with heart failure and a low left ejection fraction (LVEF) show declines in memory. Cognitive function in millions of American’s is compromised due to the rising incidence of heart failure in people over the age of 60 according to Dr. Joanne Fiesta  (St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital New York, N.Y.)

Brain Function

Your brain cells needs a constant fresh supply of oxygen. The longer the level of oxygen remains low the greater are the chances of cognitive decline. Some call this forgetfulness and brain fog, and it is a very common occurrence. Oxygen is the most important thing that brain cells need.

As you age the blood flow naturally drops and flows less efficiently. The nutrients that your brain need to nourish it are depended on how well your heart pumps.

A Framing ham Heart Study found that people whose heart pump efficiently are less likely to experience brain shrinkage.

Boost Your Memory

Now is the time to boost your memory. The way to do that is to take care of your health’s health. This will mean a more productive life in every area. This is the way to retain new information, and remember why you went to the grocery store. What everyone wants is to recall names, events, and have mental clarity and good cognitive function. Without these abilities the quality of your life diminishes.

Metabolic Syndrome

Adults with metabolic syndrome are significantly more likely to experience a decline in cognitive function over time. This is the one area where we have some control. This is a condition brought about by lifestyle.

In a study of generally healthy adults 65 years and older, those with metabolic syndrome were significantly more likely to experience a decline in cognitive function in a few years time. What is of particular interest is the the phase ”generally healthy adults with metabolic syndrome.”

This is where we are heading: health evaluations are taking a downturn, the optimal weight scale has changed and now what it means to be health has changed. Vigorous, energetic, healthy weight, good cognitive abilities, high fitness level, and emotional stability aren’t the baseline of passing the doctors idea of what is good health.

You can be a walking zombie, as long as some numbers are in the ball park, which by the way are changing yearly, you pass the physical. I wonder whose brains aren’t getting enough oxygen.

Back to the topic you are capable of slowing down memory loss and delaying the onset of dementia by following a healthy lifestyle.

Cholesterol-A life Saver

Cholesterol is not an accurate predictor of heart attacks. That unhappy outcome is from a poor lifestyle, and related to the amount of processed food. Just because you have a presumably higher overall reading doesn’t mean you should go on a low-fat kick.

HEART DISEASE

Your heart is a workhorse, when given the proper nutrition. While the doctors are on patrol to see if your cholesterol is too high, they ignore the true cause of heart disease, nutritional deficiencies. It is heartbreaking in the literal, as well as figural, the miscalculations made on the part of the medical community.

The cholesterol lowing drugs cause nutrient deficiencies. The common assumption is that high cholesterol will cause clogged arteries.

INJURY NOT CHOLESTEROL

The studies to pay attention to are the ones that show atherosclerosis is the response to injury. The body uses cholesterol to respond to injury of the cells lining the inside of the arteries. It is injury to the lining of the blood vessel, not cholesterol that is the cause of heart disease.

Cholesterol is the innocent bystander who happens to be arround when there is a heart blockage. Fireman are around when there is a fire, and they don’t usually get blamed for the destruction. Vascular injury can occur from mechanical stress, tobacco fumes, metabolic consequences of diabetes, deficiencies of vitamins A and D, consumption of trans fatty acids, and microorganisms.

Sounds to me like a lifestyle problem. Omega 6s in our diet causes inflammation. Since this is in most processed food we know the solution, and it isn’t in a pill.

DIET AND EXERCISE

When diet and exercise doesn’t help who do we call, the doctor of course. What is wrong with this picture is that there isn’t a single culture that eats their natural diet that doesn’t find diet and exercise enough.

From the early Eskimos who ate a diet of whale blubber and other good fats to the native America’s who hunted on the Great Plains cholesterol wasn’t problematic.

Now, when they followed the path of civilization they now have to call the doctor.

HOW LOW

Physicians are so engaged in driving cholesterol to new lows, they never look at is the primary goal of health, which is to have individuals function at the best level possible.

As a result of cholesterol lowing medicine the persons has a higher risk of harm. The irony is that the hypothesis that cholesterol is harmful at a certain number is not only unproven, but false.

MYTH

One reason for the high cholesterol myth was the observation; mortality rates for heart attacks dropped in areas with a low food supply in World War ll. This phenomenon was noticed by Dr. Ansel Keys in the 1950”s.

Dr. Keys’ findings were eagerly endorsed by “cholesterol is harmful” advocates, but he himself did not state that cholesterol was the direct cause of heart disease or atherosclerosis. He pointed out that just because cholesterol is present in arterial plaque does not mean that cholesterol is the cause of arterial plaque.

What is wrong with the conclusions, most of the people were following an American diet that had sugar, and refined flour. They were on an inflammatory diet, which produces inflammation. Calorie restrictive diets are known to be anti-inflammatory.

Again wrong assumptions based on the wrong hypothesis. That is the Achilles heel of modern medicine.

DANGEROUS SCIENCE

The fist drug approved for the lowering of cholesterol appeared in 1967 called Atromid-S and was withdrawn from the market in 2000. The drug didn’t prove to lower mortality. However, it was found to increase the incidence of gallstones, cancer, liver disease, and inflammation of the pancreas producing pancreatitis.

The side effects included nausea, diarrhea, loss of sexual performance, weakness, abdominal pain, muscle pain and other discomforts. The newer drugs available for this bring some of the same risks and side effects. This is dangerous science.

CONSIDERATIONS

The biggest consideration is that most cardiovascular disease is seen in people over 60. Fact, higher cholesterol in the elderly is protective. Seniors with higher cholesterol levels tend to live longer than their peers with low cholesterol.

The two reasons for this, first cholesterol is protective, and second those with lower levels are on the dangerous medications.

First and foremost take the prudent path with a healthy and active lifestyle.
