ADHD Behaviors

ADHD behaviors as seen in children seem to have very little meaning.

ADHD Diagnoses

An ADHD diagnosis seems to be arbitrary. Two published studies seem to say something is wrong with the way ADHD is diagnosed in young children. In the U.S. nearly one million kids may be misdiagnosed just because they are the youngest in their kindergarten class. The youngest in the class is twice as likely to be on stimulant medication.

What was found the youngest children were much more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD and be prescribed behavior modifying stimulants such as Ritalin.

Could it be the teacher was just having a bad hair day, and had no patience for an unruly 5 year old?  Since this is such a subjective diagnosis this can be a factor.

Hyperactivity

Hyperactivity in a five year old seems normal to a sedentary adult. This is a perception, not always a reality. It is estimated that the misdiagnosis rate is about 1 in 5, and that 900,000 of the 4.5 million children currently diagnosed with ADHD have been misdiagnosed.

Wow, 4.5 million children diagnosed with ADHD is correct. I don’t buy it. With our diet, and vaccine schedule it is possible that we have fostered a nation of unruly children. This number doesn’t add up.

Attention Deficit Disorder

Attention deficit disorder is a relatively new term. It use to be called rambunctious, acting out, class clown, energetic, and irascible behavior. With a profit center build around Ritalin, a new term is just what the drug companies ordered.

Vaccine Response Research

Vaccine response research is now taking a look at dose related differences between men and women. Vaccine dose based on biological differences, could be a significant predictor of both reaction, and response.

Vaccines Capabilities

Vaccines capabilities are limited by many things. Vaccines don’t have  go-anywhere do- anything versatility and quality. The devil is in the details. Vaccines haven’t progressed to the point where they do anything more than bombard a person with a standard dosage. They are not precision dosages that depend on the size, sex, and condition of the recipient.

Should you care? Absolutely, we depend on both the reliability and the safety of the dosage. Technicalities matter from your view point. You don’t want to be flying  blindly, you can’t retract a shot, once it is given.

Vaccine Gender Problems

If you don’t see the problem, that’s a problem in itself. According to research at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health responses to vaccines vary according to sex.

“Sex can affect the frequency and severity of adverse effects of vaccination including fever, pain and inflammation,” said Sabra Klein PhD, lead author of the review and an assistant professor at the Bloomberg School’s W. Harry Feinstone Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology. This is likely due to fact that women typically mount stronger immune responses to vaccinations compared to men. In some cases, women need substantially less of a vaccine to mount the same response as men. Pregnancy is also a factor that can alter immune responses to vaccines.”

Biological differences between the sexes could be a significant predictor of responses to vaccines, according to researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. They examined published data from numerous adult and child vaccine trials and found that sex is a fundamental, but often overlooked predictor of vaccine response. The review is featured in the May 2010 issue of The Lancet Infectious Diseases.

Vaccine Age Related Issues

Vaccine age related issues are usually not understood by seniors. Studies have shown that flu shots are usually ineffective for the elderly population. Vaccines are introduced with all sorts of claims and no real studies to back them up.

In a review article in Lancet Infectious Diseases, research by Dr. Lisa Jackson, a senior investigator at the Group Health Center for Health Studies, says evidence that all older people should get flu vaccines in weak.

If the flu shot doesn’t boosts immunity in the elderly it isn’t a solution, or a breakthrough in flu protection. The shots are not free of preservatives, solvents and reflect a challenge to an impaired immune system.

Experts

If the experts you depend on don’t have a clue, the ultimate choice to get vaccinated or not is yours. There are many reasons for questioning vaccines efficiency and safety record. Mass media campaigns may not tell the whole story. The claims are many times outright false.

Vaccine Refusal-Aware Parents

Vaccine refusal-aware parents are growing in numbers. This is a the real story that isn’t being reported in the news.

Aware Parents

Today’s parents are aware that their children are becoming profitable pin cushions. In a USA Today story they documented an increasing number of parents who refused or delayed a vaccine for their child. The article cited a CDC study that showed in 2003 only 22 percent of parents refused or delayed a vaccine for their child, whereas in 2008 this number soared to 39 percent. This is nearly double.

This is a fact that is not published for a few reasons. The biggest one is this isn’t good publicity for the vaccine manufacturers. The herd mentality could take hold; if a good size group of parents refuse or delay vaccination. The maybe I should think about this attitude could take hold. Questions would arise and parents would start educating themselves. Not a good scenario for the pharmaceutical giants.

The story that is circulating is that “parents in 2008 had more opportunities to delay shots than they had five years earlier’ because three new vaccines have been introduced. What parents are questioning is the number of shots on the vaccine schedule, and the manner they are given.

The biggest concern is that these new and newer shots have no safety record. There is no long term, large-scale, double-bind, placebo studies. In 20 years we may have the answer, by seeing our children either have improved immunity, or life altering side effects.

What parent wants their child to be a guinea pig for the pharmaceutical company’s bottom line? That is the problem, nothing more or less. Of course you can add in that most of the conditions vaccinated for don’t apply as a danger for the vast majority of babies. A new attitude is hopefully sweeping the country.

This is a reminder that many parents are taking a different approach to health.
