Hand Sanitizers are a Health Risk

Hand sanitizers fail to protect the public and pose a risk to every member of the family. This means anyone who is a long care health facility, nursery, child care center, or even at home.

There is an increased risk of the norovirus when hospital staff use hand sanitizers. The first choice for the hospital workers including the doctors is an alcohol based hand sanitizer. It is quicker and easier than washing then a soap and water scrub down.

Many studies have found the effectiveness of alcohol based hand sanitizers to be inadequate against norovirus. What this implies is that long term care facilities where outbreaks are more frequently experience the use of alcohol based hand sanitizers doesn’t provide the measure of protection implied.

Pharmaceutical Approved

Top pharma firms keep hawking it like it’s the answer to mother nature’s bio-diversity. Advance clinical investigations point to an oversight of immense implications. The initiative to use hand sanitizers was fueled by promotion and advertising. First came the adaption phase where everyone was encouraged for their safety to use hand sanitizers. They are used by hospital personal, placed on cruise ships before you enter the restaurant, and at the parked shopping carts at the supermarkets. In the name of public safety hand sanitizers have expanded their distribution channels.

Public Use of Wipes

The adaptation phase of public use of hand sanitizers is complete. With the public and health care workers resting easy with the superpowers of hand sanitizers, we are in for a era of super bugs. Cleaning products that offer a rich lather enhance consumer appeal except when it comes to clean hands.

The new wipes are soap busters that got off to a goad start in the profit department. Soon t this type alcohol anti-bacteria wipe will be a body wash. Why shower anyway when you can wipe yourself down in a fraction of the time.

The promised land of Eco-friendly consumer-friendly products that will meet customers’ expectations every time has not panned out. As seemingly endless steam of studies try to conform contradictory conclusions one thing has emerged hand sanitizers aren’t as good as hand soap.

Hand Sanitizers Dangers

New research has found that hand sanitizers aren’t as effective as soap and water in health care settings at preventing viral outbreaks. The fact that is emerging is they may be responsible for outbreaks of very contagious viruses. At an American College of Preventative Medicine meeting, and insightful survey routine hand hygiene was presented. The survey looked at 161 long-term care facilities and found that the use of hand sanitizers as a hand cleaner was linked to a higher risk of outbreaks of the highly infectious norovirus. This is a virus responsible for cases of acute gastroenteritis. In facilities where norovirus outbreaks occurred, staff were six times more likely to use hand sanitizers than soap and water for cleaning their hands. This is an alarming and should change policies in long term care facilities, nurseries and child care centers.

The alarming part is 53% of the facilities that reported a high use of alcohol based hand sanitizers had confirmed norovirus outbreaks. The facilities reporting using mainly soap and water had only 18% confirmed outbreaks. What should be recognized from these reports is that other virus will not be contained by the use of hand sanitizes.

Certain antibiotics can actually increase a patient’s risk of developing colostridium difficide (C-Diff). Often doctors will prescribe an antibiotic to prevent a skin infection during surgery. But sometimes that antibiotic wipes out all the good bacteria in the patient’s gut and that clears the way for C-Diff to take over.

The finale blow to human health may be a microbiology disinfecting product that damages the eco-system both in the human body and in the surrounding environment

Flu Pandemic Probability

The flu pandemic probability coverage is a disaster. After the Swine flu trillion dollar campaign, we now realize that who ever declares a world wide pandemic has to do more than press the panic button.

Swindle

Most viral threats never materialize or amount to some extra cases of the flu. Since the vaccine manufacturers are behind most of the decision to declare a pandemic. It is hard to know who to believe. This last round of vaccination is now called the Swine Flu Swindle by Dr. Richard Schulze, known as the Herb-Doc.

This health insurance is not the usually costly type policy, which you may or may not use. The only health insurance protection is one that keeps up your health, by supporting your immune system. Also, have on hand the powerful antimicrobial products that will become your own personal arsenal.

Lab Created

Just about everything can be lab created. Leave it to the laboratory experiments to produce hybrid stains of influenza. Of course these scenarios may never play out, without a helping hand. In laboratory experiments in mice, a single gene segment form a human seasonal flu virus, H3N2, was able to convert the avian H5N1 virus into a highly pathogenic form. The findings are reported the week of Feb. 22 in the online early edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

“Some hybrids between H5N1 virus and seasonal influenza viruses were more pathogenic that the original H5N1 viruses.”  ”That is worrisome,” says Yoshihiro Kawaoka, a virologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and senior author of the new study.

Before the current study, hybrid viruses generated in lab studies had always been less virulent than parent strains. However, the new findings raise concerns that H5N1 and pandemic H1N1 viruses could reside in individuals exposed to both viruses and generate an influenza strain that is both highly virulent and contagious.

Bottom line

The bottom line is that we know for a fact that the powers that be expect a pandemic in our future. We are left with two choices, one hope that the drug companies can deliver an effective vaccine . Having seen what they have done in the past makes us leary of this scenario. We can hope, but we also have to be practical and make sure we increase our odds in both prevention, and treatment options.
