Why is it important to have a balanced diet? Well, in fact, a balanced diet gives you so many good things in your life without you knowing it. Basically, a balanced diet is a way to give enough nutrients to your body so it can function properly. The majority of your calorie intake should be including fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean proteins, nuts, and legumes.

Why is it important?

Your tissues and organs need proper nutrition as their fuel to work properly and effectively. Without enough nutrition, your body will be easily attacked by illness, fatigue, infection, and performing poorly. If children get a poor diet, it could ruin the growth and promote some developmental problems. As we can see nowadays, lack of balanced diet could increase diabetes and obesity level. In fact, poor diet could lead to stroke, cancer, and heart disease.

How to achieve a balanced diet?

The main key to a balanced diet is taking necessary foods and eliminating the unneeded ones. You will need foods that contain low fat and sugar intake. The foods must contain a lot of minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients.

Fruits are important since they provide a lot of nutrition. Fresh fruits are the best ones. However, you need to limit your consumption of sugary fruits, even though they are naturally sweet especially if you have a tendency to get diabetes.

Vegetables are the main source of essential minerals and vitamins. According to studies and experts, eating a variety of veggies could help you to get the proper nutrients. We highly recommend you to include the dark leafy greens into your daily meals.

Instead of consuming refined flour, it is better to consume whole grains in many aspects. Whole grain, in fact, provides so much more nutrition than the refined flour. You can start by altering pasta and white bread into whole grain product.

Another important thing for our health is protein. Protein can be retrieved from meats and beans, which are essential in muscle and brain development. Good sources of protein include fish, chicken, and certain parts of beef and pork. If you do not eat meat, you may try walnuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, peas, beans, and lentils. Tempeh, tofu and other products made of soya might be another great alternative.

Other than that, you can cut out several things from your diets such as sugars, salt, trans-fats, alcohol, and many more. So, why is it important to have a balanced diet?
