High Fat Low Carb Diet Saves Lives

Up to now the advice has been a low fat diet has long term health benefits, yet the evidence doesn’t support that.  It has been proven that a high fat low carb diet saves lives, low cholesterol means a shorter lifespan.

An epidemic of obesity has followed on the heels of this advice. In 1900 only 1 in 5o people were obese, by 1950, 9.7 percent of Americans were obese, now two-thirds of Americans are either overweight or obese.

Before Americans were advised to change their diets heart disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer were far less common. Few Americans were obese or was heart disease an epidemic.

Health Benefits of Saturated Fats

 Heart

In a randomized, double-bind study comparing the effects of coconut oil and polyunsaturated vegetable soybean oil in women with abdominal obesity, women who consumed coconut oil had a significant reduction in waist circumference and no change in cholesterol levels. The women in the vegetable oil group had no change in their waist size and had an increase in their LDL (bad) cholesterol and a reduction in HDL (good) cholesterol.

Adequate levels of saturated fat help reduce levels of lipoprotein, a risk factor for heart disease and there aren’t any drugs that can do that can accomplish that.

Lipoprotein is very similar to LDL (bad) cholesterol; having high levels circulation in your blood places you at a higher risk of developing heart disease.

Lipoprotein forms in the liver then enters the bloodstream and accumulates under the inner lining of arteries promoting inflammation and the formation of foam cells. Lipoprotein also contains a component similar to a blood clotting protein which contributes to clot formation.

Osteoporosis Protection

To absorb calcium you need adequate levels of saturated fats in your system.

As women have been told to reduce saturated fat with processed vegetable oils the rate of osteoporosis has gone up. According to one of the foremost research experts in dietary fats and human health, Mary Enig, Ph.D dietary fats are necessary for this reason alone.

Liver Function

Saturated fats help protect the liver from the dangerous effects of pharmaceutical drugs and alcohol, It also signals the liver to dump fat stores, which can make for a fatty liver.

Lungs

Lungs are coated with a slippery substance made up of saturated fats, and replacing the proper amount of this with other type of processed fats can cause respiratory distress. There is some research that points to the substitution of partially hydrogenated (trans) fats as playing a role in the rise of asthma in children.

It has been found in premature babies who are born with respiratory problems that they lack the proper amount of saturated fat.

Healthy Brain

The brain is made up of fats and cholesterol, mainly saturated fat. A diet low in saturated fats deprives the brain of the building blocks in needs for proper repair and function.

Diabetes

Dietary fat found in butter, lard, coconut and palm oil are signaling messengers, which influence metabolism, including the appropriate release of insulin.

Finally excess carbohydrates are suspected as the culprit not dietary fats.

Immune System

Saturated fats found in butter and coconut oil play a key role in immune health, it needs sufficient saturated fatty acids to help white blood cells to recognize and destroy foreign invaders, such as virus, bacteria and fungi. Both myristic and lauric acid found in butter and coconut oil have potent germ-killing ability.

Saturated fat helps keep the immune system on guard against the development of cancerous cells as well as infectious agents.

A good diet of animal origin or vegetarian origin saturated fat is necessary.

Monounsaturated Fats

Monounsaturated fats are found in olive, sunflower, avocados, sesame, and flax oils

A study of women in Sweden found that a diet high in monounsaturated fats were capable of preventing some cases of breast cancer. Monounsaturated fats reduce cholesterol levels, and correlate with fewer strokes. This fat was also associated with less belly fat according to a study published by the American Diabetes Association.

Recommendations for a very low fat diet seem to fly in the face of recent research and common sense.  A high fat low carb diet saves lives for this reason naturally occurring fat isn’t a novel ingredient, but convenient pre-packaged high carb junk foods are. Our body lives on fat, all systems need it and we need it to survive.

These are: linoleic acid, omega-6 (LA, 55%), alpha-linolenic acid, omega-3 (ALA 22%), gamma-linolenic acid, omega-6 (GLA, 1-4%) and stearidonic acid, omega-3 (SDA, 0-2%)

Hemp seeds have a balanced ratio of omega 3 to 6 fats at around a three to one ratio, the optimum ratio for human consumption. Also, hemp seeds remarkable health properties come from its concentrated properly balanced fats.

Hemps’ protein content is second only to soy, with hemp at (33%) and soy at (35%). Hemp seeds amino acid profile when compared to meat, milk, eggs, and soy is good. One tablespoon a day of hemp oil can provide the daily requirements of EPAs. This means hemp is a high protein seed containing all nine of the essential amino acids.

Hemp seed supplies fiber, calcium, and iron, and contains antioxidants along with chlorophyll and vitamin E. The whole hemp seed is also a good source of phosphorous, magnesium, zinc, copper and manganese.

Soy has very high amounts of phytic acid, which prevents the absorption of minerals. Hemp is very digestible, and has none of the problems associated with soy. You can find hemp milk, hemp seed, hemp protein powder, and baked goods with hemp in many health food stores. Hemp seeds are considered to be one of the most nutritious foods.

Hemp seed oil is used to increase energy, keep skin soft, relieve arthritis and normalize cholesterol. Vegetarians use hemp seeds for a superior source of protein.

Growing Hemp Should be Applauded

Growing hemp is another story. Hemp seeds come from a plant called Cannabis sativa L. Hemp comes from the same family as the marijuana plant. The plants bear a strong resemblance to each other. The hemp seed is really a dry fruit with a hard shell.

Since hemp is considered extremely versatile and economical you would think this would be a godsend. The many uses of hemp from food to bio-fuel would make this one of the most marketable products. Hemp is a plant, which doesn’t need much in the way of pesticides; it is naturally resistance to pests.

Hemp is categorized with marijuana and as part of the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 it is illegal to grow in the U.S.A. Industrial hemp is legal to grow in just about every industrialized country. We in America rely on imported hemp seeds from Canada and other parts of the world.

Hemp has been mankind’s friend for most of human existence. It provided food, clothes and shelter. Since, it is one of the most nutritious foods on the planet, what better way to end famine then with a seed that can grow with little or no pesticides, and provides essential protein for livestock.
